SUMMARY:Wednesday Birders
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday Birders – February 4\, 11\, 18\, 25\nJoin local birders every Wednesday for birding trips in Central Oregon.  Meet at 8:00 AM at Nancy P’s at 1054 Milwaukee in Bend.  The group car pools\, sharing expenses for gas\, and taking turns driving.  Current plans for February are:\n•         February 4:  Woodpecker search in the Green Ridge area.  Especially looking for black-backed and Three-toed woodpeckers.\n•         February 11:   Wastewater ponds and Redmond\, Culver\, Madras\, Prineville ponds and if time\, Hatfield Lake in Bend. This is an ALL DAY event.\n•         February 18:  Alfalfa\, Powell Butte\, birding open fields for raptors\, horned Larks\, other ground feeders.\n•         February 25:   Sisters area and Suttle Lake\,\nPlans may vary due to weather or rare birds spotted prior to the meeting. SUMMARY:SUSTAINABLE HOMES PROFESSIONAL (SHP); Module 3
DESCRIPTION:SHP is an interactive six-month accreditation program that provides participants with the opportunity to develop the technical skills and knowledge required to design and build highperformance homes. Each two-day module integrates lecture and discussion\, hands-on exercises and tours of certified homes. \nModule 3: High Performance Building Envelopes\nTwo day Module from 9-5pm \nThis course explores various high performance wall and roof assemblies\, including continuous exterior insulation\, truss walls\, double-stud walls\, SIPS\, staggered stud framing\, I-joist\, and more. Participants learn principles that can be applied to existing homes and new construction projects\, including durable wall design\, insulation strategies and air sealing\, product selection\, and construction. The course addresses the importance of performance testing and diagnostics to verify the performance of installed equipment and the home’s envelope. \nIndividual modules cost $295 each and can be taken in any order to achieve SHP accreditation. \nMore information and sign up \n
