SUMMARY:SolWest Fair with Renewable Northwest
DESCRIPTION:SolWest Fair will highlight the “energy for sustainable communities” with three days of workshops\, demonstrations\, and vendors that focus on renewable energy and sustainability. We plan to offer classes for continuing education credits for contractors\, an electric vehicle show\, and farm tours. Networking and community will be important whether you’re camping or sharing locally grown food. We plan to create a guide to sustainability so that participants will walk away with a seven-year plan shaped by vendors and presenters. SUMMARY:Field Sketching workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join the Deschutes Land Trust and artist Rebecca Brown-Thompson for a workshop on field sketching. On the first day we’ll be in the studio focusing on honing basic techniques valuable for all forms of sketching. Learn how to train your eye to see negative spaces\, shapes\, proportion\, perspective\, and tones. Then\, the second day\, you’ll move on to flora and fauna drawing tips and how to draw what you see\, not what you think you see. This workshop is day one of a two-day workshop and is open to adults of all skill levels. SUMMARY:Pride Week\, Dykes on Bikes
DESCRIPTION:The Official “Dykes on Bikes” out of Portland will be here this year for Central Oregon Pride 2014. The newly formed chapter of the DOB motorcycle club will be coming to Central Oregon to help kick off this year’s event with a loosely organized ride. As in the past 2 years\, we will meet at Strictly Organic Coffee (a HUGE friend of the gay community). From there we will do a ride through the Old Mill\, past a few parks\, then through what ever part of downtown we can access (Bite of Bend on the same weekend)\, finishing at Drake Park (Bend\, OR) about 12:30 to help Kick Off the Opening Ceremony for Pride. \nAs many of you may know\, DOB has been a long standing icon for the kick off of many a gay parade. All are welcome to join in the ride. Male\, female\, neither or both. Mopeds\, scooters\, crotch rockets or rumbling hogs. The Stonewall Riots were on June 28\, 1969\, 45 yrs ago\, when patrons of the Stonewall Inn rioted against the unjust tactics of the New Your City Police Department. The first pride flag and the first pride parade soon followed in San Francisco and New Your City.
