Composting Pick-up and Drop-off Options

Options for people who don't want to compost at home, but would rather have their stuff collected or hauled to the composting facility.

Yard Debris and Fruit and Vegetable Waste Pick Up Services

If you live in within the city of Bend or the city of Redmond, you have the option of having your yard debris and fruit and vegetable waste picked up by your garbage collector.  Here's what can go in your yard debris container:

Not acceptable: Fruit or vegetable stickers, plastic wrap or plastic containers, egg shells, processed or cooked fruits or vegetables, tea bags, animal product or any biodegradable food ware such as paper plates, cups, etc.
  • Yard trimmings
  • Leaves
  • Pine Needles
  • Grass clippings
  • Raw fruit and veggie scraps
  • Coffee grounds (no filters)

Contact your garbage and recycling service to learn more about yard debris and fruit and vegetable pick up services.  Remember...if it grows, it goes!

Self-Hauling Option

Remember, you can also self-haul your yard debris only to Deschutes Recycling where it gets composted. Visit their website for information on pricing and operating hours. Even better, close the loop by buying some of the finished compost for your yard!
