EarthSmart Grants Awarded to Local Schools
Six local schools will be reducing their waste and educating their students about it thanks to our annual EarthSmart Grants.
School Composting Program Cuts Waste
The Environmental Center worked with Bear Creek Elementary School to implement a program to compost 100% of their cafeteria food waste. In the first week alone, the school kept 460 pounds of waste out of the landfill.
Dave Sheldon-Our Rockstar
Dave Sheldon, long time board member of The Environmental Center and dear friend to many, died December 14th, 2010 in a tragic accident.
Federal Transit Administration Grant Award
Central Oregon receives a grant from the Federal Transit Administration’s Paul S. Sarbanes Transit in Parks Program in the amount of $998,700. The grant program is intended to provide a means for alternative modes of access to federal lands.
