The National Forest Foundation and Sisters Movie House are proud to present Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time. Green Fire is the first ever documentary film made about famous conservationist Aldo Leopold, author of A Sand County Almanac.
Proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the National Forest Foundation’s local restoration efforts on the Tale of Two Rivers Treasured Landscapes conservation site supporting the Metolius and Whychus Rivers. Three Creeks Brewing will debut their Water of Life Bier, a classic German-syle old ale, at the Sisters Movie House for the occasion. A portion of the proceeds from each beer purchased will also benefit restoration efforts in the Sisters area.
Tickets to the movie will be $10 and can be purchased at the door or reserved in advance at the Sisters Movie House or by calling 541-549-8833.
The film explores Aldo Leopold’s life and the ways in which his land ethic ideas continue to affect conservation projects around the world today. The film’s on screen guide is Curt Meine, Leopold’s biographer, and Emmy-award winning narrator Peter Coyote is the voice of Aldo Leopold.
“What is exciting about Green Fire is that it is more than just a documentary about Aldo Leopold; it also explores the influence his ideas have had in shaping the conservation movement as we know it today by highlighting some really inspiring people and organizations doing great work to connect people and the natural world in ways that even Leopold might not have imagined,” said Aldo Leopold Foundation Executive Director, Buddy Huffaker.
Film-goers will have a chance after the film to ask questions and discuss local conservation efforts with representatives of the National Forest Foundation and US Forest Service- Sisters Ranger District.
