Cascades Mountaineers Club Outing

Date: June 5th, 2011

 

Start: 9am at the Northern Point parking lot - Smith Rock State Park.

 

Elevation Gain / (Loss): Single pitches of toproped climbing: 5.6 - 5.10c

 

Directions to Start: Hwy 97 North to Terrebonne, East to Smith Rock from Redpoint. Meet in the parking lot at the Northern Point ($5 fee to park if you don't have a yearly pass). Carpool, if possible.

 

Outing Description: This outing will be a social gathering of Cascades Mountaineers & their kids who enjoy climbing with each other and sharing encouragement, beta, and a fun day of climbing. This will also be a great opportunity for those who have always wanted to try rock climbing, but didn't know where to start. Toproped climbs up to 5.10c will be set for everyone.  

Equipment & Clothing Needs: Normal day outing clothing, food and liquids. Rock shoes and a harness are the only required equipment. Shoes can be borrowed from Rod, or rented at Redpoint. Other desired equipment includes: a locking carabiner, belay device & a helmet. Decisions on how many ropes, and what gear we will take, will be made in the parking lot.  

Skills, Experience & Fitness Level Needed:

General good health which would allow this kind of activity.

 

Maximum Number of Participants & RSVP Requirements: Limit of 12 Participants. Also, I'm looking for 2 other experienced climbers who would like to help facilitate this event. RSVP requested by June 3rd.
