As an advocate for residential energy efficiency and the green building community, Christian Gladu Design, in conjunction with Trevin and Tim Duey of Duey Brothers Custom Homes, is staging a community open house to share and illustrate the “Anatomy of an Energy Efficient Home”. This open house will be an open walls presentation showing the heart, lungs and skeletal system of today’s energy efficient home.
The open house will be a great opportunity for people to see the state-of-the-art energy efficient inner workings of a house, the elements and strategies applied in this house are economically within reach and don’t represent the bleeding edge of green, these systems are for individuals building new, renovations or additions.
There will be short presentations throughout the day on hot topics such as ductless mini-split heat pumps, advanced framing, flash and batt insulation, integrated design and the amazing 3-D building information software (BIM) used to design this project. Bruce Sullivan of Earth Advantage will be giving a presentation at 11:30 on the importance of building performance certification.
“Anatomy of an Energy Efficient Home” will be different from a typical tour of homes because of the unique opportunity to view the inner workings of a truly energy efficient house before the walls, ceilings and floors are sealed up.
