What We Do

This page gives a summary of what we do at The Environmental Center, with links to each of our core program areas.

The Environmental Center is a team of educators, advocates and leaders working to embed sustainability into daily life in Central Oregon.

Our day-to-day job is to translate sustainability into practical, local action to create a healthy future for people and the planet.

Our current programs areas include:

  • Youth Education: From classroom presentations to outdoor school days and learning gardens, we deliver programs on sustainability to the future generation of thinkers, teachers and leaders.
  • Zero Waste: We are redefining the concept of “waste” in our community and working towards greater efficiency in everything we do.
  • Transportation: We are advocating for a robust transit system and creating a vibrant bike culture in Central Oregon.
  • Sustainable Business: We are supporting and promoting local, conscious consumerism and sustainable business practices.

We also host, at our campus in downtown Bend, a variety of events that bring like-minded people together to learn about sustainability and other environmental issues in our community.

  • Check out our event calendar here.
  • Stay in touch with us about upcoming events and other Environmental Center news and happenings by entering your email in the STAY IN TOUCH! box to the left.

And this web site has a lot more resources for how you can put sustainability into practice in your daily life, at home and at work.
