What to Feed Your Red
Wigglers
As a guide worms will eat anything that was once living. This
includes:
• Left over vegetable scraps, fruit and vegetable
peelings
• Manures (well aged)
• Tea leaves/bags and coffee grounds
• Vacuum cleaner dust or hair clippings (also animal)
• Torn up newspapers, egg and milk or pizza cartons
(soaked first)
• Crushed egg shells (these will help with the pH
balance)
The greater the variety of material you use, the better the
castings will be. The Can-O-Worms tm provides
a quick, odorless and space efficient way to convert kitchen
scraps into rich, crumbly garden compost.
Features a stacking tray design which allows the worms to "eat
their way up" to their food, leaving their nutrient dense
castings behind. An added bonus is the tap on the bottom
collector tray. Valuable "worm tea" works its way down to the
collector tray where you can utilize the handy tap to dispense
the tea and use it as liquid organic fertilizer for all your
plants.
Includes a large coco-brick, to be used as starter bedding,
and a handy "how-to" booklet. May be used indoors or out.
Roughly 1,000 Red Wigglers are all you need to get started.
Made of 100% recycled plastic. 29" T x 20" D. The
Can-O-Worms tm provides a quick, odorless and
space efficient way to convert kitchen scraps into rich,
crumbly garden compost.
ABOUT
UCT-9
In an urban setting,
many people have neither the space nor the time to maintain a
traditional compost pile in their backyard. Add that to the
growing regulations concerning compost piles, neighbor
complaints, and unwanted pests the Urban Compost Tumbler (UCT)
fits nicely into an urban setting while getting the job
done.
Given enough time, all composters and methods work. Given
enough oxygen, they simply work better and faster. The most
efficient bacteria, called "aerobes", need oxygen to do their
work. Without oxygen the aerobes cannot survive and the
anaerobes take over slowing decomposition by as much as 90
percent.
In addition, the center aeration tube with its cross bar
assists in the break up and separation of compost as it is
turned preventing the materials from turning into a ball and
just sliding back and forth when tumbled.
An Aerobic Bacteria's Dream
There are "Four" ingredients that are critical for effective
composting of all organic materials: carbon, nitrogen, water,
and oxygen. The unique patented core aeration system of the
UCT-9 provides the essential oxygen for the aerobic
microorganisms and tool free mixing of the composting
materials. This near odorless, fully enclosed composter is
ideal for both yard and kitchen materials.
The UCT-9 is a recycled/reclaimed food grade commodities
barrel. Using a rocking motion to build momentum, a FULL UCT-9
is relatively easy to turn. However the composting action will
rapidly reduce the content of the barrel to less than half its
volume and may require more pressure to turn the unit when all
the weight is in the bottom half of the barrel. For those
looking for a smaller compost tumbler, this UCT-9 is a good
choice.

CO2 emissions and composting
Composting food waste at home reduces 100 lbs. of CO2 equivalent annually; the bacteria inside the compost pile prevent methane emissions from entering the atmosphere. CO2 is released from the compost instead of methane, which has 21 times the global warming potential of CO2. Making a compost pile also reduces municipal waste, transportation of waste and may allow people to decrease their trash services.*
