DEMONSTRATION GARDENS

FTGU has been working with residents and other community members to turn areas into demonstration sites of native and drought tolerant plants show casing the beauty for individuals to see.

1. Central Oregon Humane Society

The plants in the garden include Creeping Oregon Grape (Mahonia Repens), Curl Leaf Mountain Mahogany (Cercocarpus ledifolius), and Pacific Serviceberry or Saskatoon (Amelanchier alnifolia).

2. Pageant Park

The Pageant Park garden contains native plants such as Greenleaf Manzanita (Arctostaphylos patula) and Douglas or Hardhack Spirea (Spirea douglasii), but also utilized some existing plants from the original design including: Black Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia fulgida) and Johnson's Blue Geranium (Geranium 'Johnson's Blue').

3. Centennial Park

The native garden area includes Wood's Rose (Rosa woodsii), Shrubby Penstemon (Penstemon fruticosa), and Snowberry (Symphoricarpos alba).  The native garden also includes a dry land area which does not receive extra watering.

When walking up the paver pathway from the parking lot, the native area will be on the right hand side, followed by the "wildfire garden."  On the left hand side of the red brick walkway is the sensory garden.

4. Hollinshead Park

The garden includes plants such as Common Chokeberry (Prunus virginiana), Davidson's Penstemon (Penstemon davidsonii), and Orange Globe Mallow (Sphaeralcea munroana).
